Sake by bottle size

The alcohol scales with the bottle: at 15%, a 300 ml bottle holds 2.5 US standard drinks, a 720 ml bottle 6.1 and a 1.8 litre bottle 15.2.

In UK units the same three bottles hold 4.5, 10.8 and 27.0, and in Irish standard drinks 3.6, 8.6 and 21.6.

How much sake is one standard drink?

One US standard drink is about 0.6 fl oz of pure alcohol, so at 15% it is about 118 ml of sake, and at 17% about 104 ml.

One UK unit is 10 ml of pure alcohol: 67 ml of 15% sake. One Irish standard drink (10 g) is 83 ml at 15%, and one Canadian standard drink is 114 ml.

At 15%, 6.1 US standard drinks, 10.8 UK units and 8.6 Irish standard drinks. Check the % vol on the label: at 17% the same bottle holds 6.9 US standard drinks.

How many drinks are in a 300ml bottle of sake?

At 15%, a 300 ml bottle holds 2.5 US standard drinks or 4.5 UK units. At 16% it holds 2.7 US standard drinks, and at 13% 2.2.

How many units of alcohol are in sake?

Units depend on the amount and the strength: multiply the % vol by the ml and divide by 1,000. A 180 ml bottle at 15% is 2.7 units; a 720 ml bottle at 15% is 10.8.
