A 750 ml bottle fills six 125 ml glasses, the NHS small-glass size, or about four 175 ml glasses. At 12%, each 125 ml glass is 1.5 UK units and each 175 ml glass 2.1, the same as still wine of the same strength in the NHS examples.

In US standard drinks, a 5 fl oz glass of 12% champagne is one drink: the amount NIAAA uses for table wine at 12%.

Champagne and the 14 units a week

At 12%, a 750 ml bottle of champagne is 9.0 UK units. The NHS advises adults not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis, which a bottle and a half at 12% nearly reaches (13.5 units). A 1.5 litre bottle at 12% holds 18.0 units.

A 750 ml bottle holds six 125 ml glasses or about four 175 ml glasses. At 12%, the whole bottle is 9.0 UK units and 5.1 US standard drinks, so each 125 ml glass is 1.5 units.

How many units are in a glass of champagne?

At 12%, a 125 ml glass is 1.5 UK units and a 175 ml glass is 2.1. At 12.5%, they are 1.6 and 2.2. Check the % vol on the bottle.

How many standard drinks are in half a bottle of champagne?

A 375 ml bottle, or half of a 750 ml bottle, at 12% holds 2.5 US standard drinks, 4.5 UK units and 3.6 Irish standard drinks.

Is a bottle of champagne stronger than a bottle of wine?
