The short version
- You do not need an account.
- What you enter in the tools (drinks, amounts, spending, calendar days, answers to questions) is processed in your browser and stays on your device. We never receive it.
- We count page visits and a few named actions without cookies. There is no cookie banner because we use no analytics cookies.
- There are no advertising trackers and we sell no data.
What stays on your device
The dry month tracker saves your challenge dates, the days you tick off, the optional usual week and cost you enter, and your answers to its three safety questions in your browser's local storage under the key drink:v1, so the calendar is there when you come back. “Delete my tracker” removes all of it. “Save a backup” downloads the same data as a file to your device; “Restore a backup” reads such a file in your browser. The file never passes through us.
So the tools open without a connection, your browser also keeps a copy of this site's pages, scripts and icons (a service worker cache). It holds only files from this site, never what you type.
The standard drink calculator, the AUDIT-C check and the guidelines comparison save nothing: your answers and numbers are gone when you leave the page. For the AUDIT-C we record only that the check was completed, never your answers or your score.
Usage analytics
To see whether the tools are useful, we count page views and named actions such as “tracker started” or “waitlist button clicked”. These events never contain what you entered, how much you drink, your spending, your calendar or any score. Page views record the page address without the part after the “?”. We use PostHog in cookieless mode: nothing is stored on your device for analytics, visits are grouped using a privacy-preserving hash calculated on PostHog's servers, and there is no session recording and no automatic click tracking. The data passes through our own server on its way to PostHog.
App waitlist emails
If you leave your email to hear about the mobile app, we store:
- your email address and the date you signed up;
- which platform (iOS / Android) you chose, that you signed up on this site (not which page), and campaign tags in the link (UTM), if any;
- if our network provider reports it, your country (never your precise location);
- whether you ticked “product updates”, and when.
We never ask about your drinking with your email, and we don't link your email to the analytics above. Our server records the signup itself as one analytics event under a random ID, with the platform, the source “drink” and the country, but never the email. We use your email to tell you when the app launches, and send other product updates only if you ticked that box. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We keep the email until you ask us to delete it or until the waitlist is closed. A Cloudflare Turnstile check runs when you sign up to stop spam. Our backend and database are hosted by Railway; the website is served by Cloudflare.
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it by emailing developyourself.studio@gmail.com.
